Home Theater Pc by Mac

Had some fun hooking up a pc to a 46″ Samsung with a killer sound system. The audio runs through the HDMI cable of the video card (ATI 4850). The computer is playing a dvd that a friend sent over. Enjoy the action.

sounds interesting. I do know that you need an ati video card that supports audio over hdmi. If you have one, you have options in your sound
manager to send audio over hdmi.

@bonjopi hdmi is capable of carrying 8 channels uncompressed bro…thats the glory of hmdi. optical is only capable of 5.1 compressed. but hdmi will do the full deal.

an HDMI cable can only carry 5.1 sound. Most bluerays only have 5.1 anyway. Display port is supposed to be able to carry 7.1 sound.

    is it 7.1?

im having trouble getting 7.1 and video on the same cable….someone told me to use the optical as a pass through so it would carry more than 5.1 but i cant get that to work either.
